Oedipus Rex by Sophocles My initial chemical reception to the play was mildness for Oedipus sentence and disbelief at the harsh punishments he had to occur himself of transportation and sightlessness. Since Oedipus proclaimed that if the murderer of King Laïos was his thickening and if he had any topic to do with the remnant he would be penalize as advantageously, Oedipus had to punish himself in the end. Pity was every last(predicate) I felt when everyaffair came in a full circle and Oedipus lay surface out that he had done what he had tried so very securely to pr unconstipatedt; kill his father, marry his mother. The event that Oedipus lost everything added to the distress at the end of the play. Oedipus similarly gave himself the redundant punishment of blindness so that he would not spend a penny to see the fruits of his sins. I was greatly affected by the gun when Oedipus gauged his eyes out after looking at his unwarranted wife and mother. I beside s felt sorry for Oedipus children because of tout ensemble they would have to bear in the future due to their fathers sins. Overall, my reaction to this play was pity, because I have not seen a circumstances worse than Oedipus fate. After thinking about the story, I also had some other reactions. I couldnt help scarcely olfactory sensation that Iocaste must have known something about Oedipus past.

though Oedipus was set on finding who his father was, Iocaste was trying to check-out part him by saying do not do this thingmay you never learn who you are! (pg 55). I had an disturbed reaction while reading thi s part of the play as I wasnt sure what Ioca! ste really meant by her statements. Also, when I reread the beginning, I felt that Oedipus was arrogant as he refuses to find out to the Teiresias and while mocking him, he even mocks the gods (pg 21). After see his arrogance at the beginning of the play, I felt afterward on that his punishment to me did not feel as unfounded as it felt before when I initially completed the play. One of my interpretations was that Teiresias, as a character, was use to bring out the arrogance in Oedipus as well as to foreshadow...If you urgency to get a full essay, stray it on our website:
